ABOUT 6LBs FAMILY SUPPORT SERVICES
Every Family Has a Story.
Mine is what inspired this work.

Harmony Bass, C-ND
Long before I became a Certified NICU Doula, the NICU was already part of my story.
I was born at 31 weeks and spent the first two months of my life in the NICU. Years later, I unexpectedly found myself back in that same world as a parent. My own experiences included high-risk pregnancies, prolonged hospitalizations, premature births, NICU stays, and the heartbreaking loss of one of my children. I also went on to welcome my first full-term baby.
Each of those experiences has helped shape the person I am today. They taught me to celebrate the smallest victories, to sit with uncertainty, and to appreciate the power of simply having someone who listens and understands.
Over the years, I found myself drawn back to the hospital, not as a patient, but as a volunteer. For more than a decade, I've had the privilege of supporting families in both high-risk pregnancy and NICU units. Sitting beside parents during uncertain moments, celebrating milestones, sharing in both heartbreak and hope, and simply being present reinforced something I already knew from my own experiences: families need more than excellent medical care. They need someone who will meet them where they are, listen without judgment, and support them through each step of their experience.
Becoming a Certified NICU Doula felt like the natural next step. It gave me the opportunity to build on those years of experience while adding another layer of professional training to the support I provide.

Why the Name 6LBs?
Pronounced "Six Pounds," 6LBs is a name with personal meaning.
The 6 represents my six children. The letters "LB" are the initials all six of my children share, a meaningful reminder of the family who inspired this work.
The name also carries another layer of meaning. "LB" is the abbreviation for pounds, quietly reflecting the babies and families I have the privilege of serving. Whether a baby weighs one pound or ten pounds, every family deserves compassionate support.
For me, 6LBs is a reflection of the family who inspired this work and the families I now have the privilege of supporting.
👥 Support Tailored to You
No two families are the same. I tailor my support to your family's unique needs, goals, and circumstances.
What You Can Expect
No two families experience high-risk pregnancy or the NICU in exactly the same way. That's why I believe support should never be one-size-fits-all.
My role is not to replace your healthcare team or tell you what decisions to make. Instead, I'm here to meet you where you are, provide compassionate, non-medical guidance, share evidence-based education, help you process information you've received, organize questions, and walk alongside you as you navigate your experience.
Whether we meet once or continue working together throughout your high-risk pregnancy, NICU stay, or transition home, my hope is that you feel heard, respected, informed, and confident in the decisions that are right for your family.
📖 Evidence-Based Education
Sharing evidence-based information and family-centered care practices to help you connect with and support your baby, while helping you process information, make informed decisions, and prepare questions for your care team.
